The Cove

Diners, Drive-ins and Dives!  Anyone watch that?  Well, this is the second place in SanAntonio I've been that have been featured by Guy Fieri on this show.  The Cove is a dive bar/organic/local food resturant/family friendly spot all in one!  Not in the greatest neighborhood, but the clientele are normal and casual and all ages. It was very hot so we went inside, but they have a huge outside area that includes a basketball hoop, ping pong table and kiddies playground right in the middle.

You order and pick up your own drinks at the bar.  For food, you go outside and around a corner to order and pay for your food.  At first I thought "what a hassle", but service was FAST!

Food was all locally grown and organic.

           Mother and daughter

This was great on such a HOT day!

                                                                    The BEST burgers!

This guy was very popular with the ladies. Everyone wanted their picture taken with him.  Personally, I found him a little stiff and lacking in personality.

This gal was sitting at the next table and didn't know her at all, but we all loved her haircut!  So I stalkerazzi'd her to get pictures of the do.  Eventually, we talked to her and was such a sweetie.  She cuts her own hair!  Said she couldn't find anyone to cut it the way she wanted.  She had no idea I had been taking pictures of her and thought it was funny.....thank goodness!

I know this photo looks "posed", but it wasn't.

Remember peeps, my door is open and the couch is ready if you want to visit San Antonio!

Lytle Texas

Headed out to a music/craft festival in the little town of Lytle, just south of San Antonio yesterday.  The heat and humidity were FIERCE!  We could only stand being outside for about an hour and a half.  There were some big industrial fans blowing in this tent where the Watusi were playing, so we sat and listened a while, but even with the fans it was pretty hot.

I was driving, so didn't have an ice cold beer.  Dang!

This was another little stage that had some entertainment.  The seating was some bleachers under some of the biggest old trees I have ever seen.

These youngsters weren't all that interested in the music, but that little girl sure had their attention.

I loved this couple.  They just looked so fresh, crisp and cool in the wilting 92 degree heat, with 70% humidity.

She was just perfect, down to the neatly folded handerchief in her back pocket.  I was in awe, as I looked like the "Wreck of the Hesperus".  My clothes were soaking wet with sweat, my face was bright red and my hair totally frizzed out.

There was a barbeque cookoff going on, but the only ones who got to actually eat the barbeque were the judges.  That sucked.

The next pictures were taken right across the street from the park where the festival was.  Sad to see the deterioration of these little towns.

Kari bought this cute metal sunflower yard art and stuck in the ground to provide a nice bright focal point for some pictures, along with the real ones.

Boerne Sunday Drive

It was a great day with temps staying right around 80, not too hot.  I decided to head towards the little town of Boerne, which is a little NW of San Antonio.  I parked downtown and started wandering through shops and ran into a big craft fair that was going on in the town center.  As I was wandering through, there was a booth with lots of photos and the first one that caught my eye was ..........TULIP fields in Skagit County! The photographer, Laurie, was from Seattle and had moved here about 2 years ago when she got layed off from her job of 17 years.  Talk about a small world!   The fair also had some fantastic food vendors.  I had a beef gordita and it was incredible.  I wanted another one, but knew it would make me sick so refrained :-(.

I then wandered back through town and to the river where I was greeted my some really MEAN geese, so I snapped a couple pictures and made a hasty retreat.

                                                           The nasty geese posse.

Next I went to the Cibolo Nature center (I think that is what it was called).  It was just a few miles out of town.

Hope you all had a beautiful day.

The Sky over England

I thought I had lost all my pics from last spring's trip to Scotland and England and today I found them!
these pics are from my little point and shoot Canon that died right after the trip.  These are flying from Edinburgh to Paris.  This is the English Chanel.

Sunset at the very spooky Chillingham Castle.

The sky looked like this most of the time I was there.

Sunflowers!

There are acres and acres of sunflowers just a few mile from my place.  This post is all about the sunflowers!

I am proud to say that I did not pick a single sunflower!
